Eula has been a volunteer with the 500 Festival for 12 years – this year, Eula will be retiring her volunteer pins. Volunteering as a Specialty Unit Escort at the IPL 500 Festival Parade, Eula has been an integral part in making the parade an enjoyable and memorable experience for attendees.

500 Festival: Why did you sign up to volunteer with the 500 Festival?

Eula: I have always had the desire to give back in some way to my community. I loved the 500 Festival mission and events, and I saw it as an opportunity to make a difference in the Indianapolis community.

500 Festival: What makes the 500 Festival a unique volunteer experience?

Eula: The 500 Festival volunteer experience is unique because you get to meet a lot of people that you have never met before or maybe would ever meet. You really get to know the people you are volunteering with, and build relationships within the community.

500 Festival: What advice would you give to new volunteers?

Eula: Have fun! As a volunteer you have to go into each shift with a positive attitude. Be motivated, and be energetic!

500 Festival: What would you say to someone who is interested in volunteering with the 500 Festival?

Eula: It never hurts to do good for your community. You can never go wrong with being a volunteer for the 500 Festival or any service opportunity for your community. Don’t ever hesitate to give back to your community.

500 Festival: Do you have a favorite 500 Festival Volunteer memory?

Eula: My first favorite memory was being asked to be a volunteer. I’ve always had a passion for volunteering and having an opportunity to help my community. Reflecting my favorite memory is just realizing the special privilege that it is to work with the 500 Festival. You know you are doing ‘good’ for the Indianapolis community.
