The 500 Festival made a visit to see Eva Kor, our 2017 IPL 500 Festival Parade Grand Marshal, at the CANDLES Holocaust Museum and Education Center in Terre Haute, Indiana this week. In true Eva fashion, she was ready to walk through the entire facility describing each segment of the tour, detailing pieces of her own past alongside the overall history of the Nazi invasion, Mengele’s 3,000 twins and the Soviet’s liberating Auschwitz.
“I always had a strong will to live” she said, when asked how she made it through her time at the death camp.
Eva is one of 13 Holocaust survivors immortalized using the latest technology in the University of Southern California’s New Dimension in Testimony. Here is a photo of Eva next to survivor Pinchas Gutter, who can answer questions about his life before, during and after the Holocaust as if he were in the room. Eva’s hologram will be ready in a few months and we can’t wait to go back to see her!
