Platinum-Selling Rock Band X Ambassadors to Perform at 2017 KeyBank 500 Festival Snakepit Ball

INDIANAPOLIS (February 21, 2017) – The 500 Festival, a nonprofit organization providing life-enriching events for Indiana and celebrating the legacy of the Indianapolis 500, today announced the entertainment for the 2017 KeyBank 500 Festival Snakepit Ball (#SnakepitBall) will be platinum-selling rock band, X Ambassadors. The 2017 KeyBank 500 Festival Snakepit Ball will be held Saturday, May 27 at the Indiana Roof Ballroom.

X Ambassadors released their debut album, VHS, in 2015, where it debuted at #7 on the Billboard Top 200 chart and has been certified gold by the RIAA. The album features the platinum selling, #1 song, “Renegades” as well as the single, “Unsteady” which climbed the Billboard Hot 100 and is featured in the feature film and soundtrack for “Me Before You.” Hailing from Ithaca, N.Y., X Ambassadors is a guitar-driven rock band whose music features a unique sampling of soul and hip-hop. The group consists of lead vocalist Sam Harris, keyboardist Casey Harris, lead guitarist Noah Feldshuh, and drummer Adam Levin.

“X Ambassadors have made a name for themselves as talented artists and performers,” said Aaron Reitz, president of KeyBank, Central Indiana and chair of the 500 Festival’s Snakepit Ball Committee. “There’s no doubt that Snakepit Ball attendees will be blown away by their performance and they’ll add a ton of creativity to this year’s event theme – The Art of the Race, an interactive art event.”

The group is known for their inspired live performances. In addition to their own sold out headline tour, the group has played shows with Imagine Dragons, The Lumineers, and Panic! At the Disco. The massive success of X Ambassadors didn’t happen overnight. After countless years of hard work and overcoming personal challenges, the group’s popularity skyrocketed with their stomping, syncopated full-length album, VHS, which features songs about movement, speed, and the determination to navigate away from heartbreak and the constraints of small-town status quo.

Beyond their music, the group applies their artistic talent to their music videos to deepen their stories. The music video for “Renegades” depicts several people with disabilities working to overcome their challenges. It had a personal aspect to it, because band member Casey Harris has been blind since birth. The group’s music video for “Unsteady” serves as a tribute to wounded veterans. The band has felt a strong connection to veterans since getting their start in a military town, and they were moved to dedicate their video to these heroes after witnessing a veteran friend suffering from post-traumatic stress.

“X Ambassadors are true artists and their music videos always shine a light on every day heroes around us. Their music is inspired by movement and speed and the group could not be a better fit for this year’s KeyBank 500 Festival Snakepit Ball entertainment. Attendees are guaranteed a heart pumping performance,” said Bob Bryant, president and CEO of the 500 Festival.

The 2017 KeyBank 500 Festival Snakepit Ball is race weekend’s most exclusive party attracting celebrities and VIPs in town for race weekend. The entertainment of X Ambassadors will complement the theme for this year’s KeyBank 500 Festival Snakepit Ball, The Art of the Race, an interactive art event. The theme will play off the double meaning of the word art– there is an art to racing and art inspired by racing. At the event, artists and technicians will focus on four aspects of the visual arts: light & video, the use of unconventional materials, fashion and the human body. This year’s Snakepit Ball will deliver a one of a kind party celebrating the race in an exciting and visually expressive way.
