INDIANAPOLIS (November 1, 2016) – The 500 Festival, a nonprofit organization providing life-enriching events for Indiana and celebrating the legacy of the Indianapolis 500, today announced that OrthoIndy has renewed a multi-year partnership with the organization including presenting sponsorship of the Miler Series through 2019. The 2017 500 Festival Miler Series, presented by OrthoIndy, marks OrthoIndy’s eleventh year as the presenting sponsor.
“Since 2010, OrthoIndy has proven to be a great partner of the 500 Festival. Their commitment to the health and well-being of runners and walkers, as well as advancing the mission of the 500 Festival is exemplary and appreciated,” said Bob Bryant, president and CEO, 500 Festival. “Thanks in part to our partnership, the Miler Series has experienced tremendous growth over the past few years, we’re excited to continue growing this series of events with OrthoIndy’s support.”
The 500 Festival Miler Series, presented by OrthoIndy, offers three running and walking events at three unique distances - a 3-Miler, 6-Miler, and 10-Miler. The distances and timing of events within the Miler Series coincide with typical training programs for a spring distance race such as the 2017 OneAmerica 500 Festival Mini-Marathon. Each race is designed to provide participants with a low-pressure opportunity to gauge their training progression. The Miler Series is open to the public, providing the community with an opportunity to get moving and accomplish their fitness goals, even if they aren’t training for a specific race.
“Meaningful involvement within the communities we serve, as well as advancing the health and wellbeing of Central Indiana residents are important to OrthoIndy and our employees,” said Jane Keller, CEO of OrthoIndy. “Our 500 Festival sponsorship has checked both of those boxes. We’re pleased to continue this partnership through 2019.”
Participants who register to walk or run in the 2017 500 Festival Miler Series, presented by OrthoIndy, will enjoy three new courses that weave throughout downtown Indianapolis, past such locations as the Soldiers’ and Sailors’ Monument, down Massachusetts Avenue, and around Fountain Square. Each course will begin and end at Bankers Life Fieldhouse. To view the course maps, click HERE.
Participants who register and complete all three races in the 500 Festival Miler Series, presented by OrthoIndy will earn the title of Podium Finisher. All Podium Finishers will receive a gender specific technical t-shirt and the official Podium Finisher medal. Participants can pre-register for all three races for $40 or $45 for onsite registration.
There is also an opportunity to participate from out of town, by registering for the 2017 Virtual Miler Series. Registration for the Virtual Miler Series is $40 and participants will receive a bib, a gender specific technical t-shirt, and a finisher medal. Virtual Miler Series participants complete the corresponding distance on each race day, from the location of their choice. Participants then submit their race time and photos upon completing the designated distance.
