INDIANAPOLIS (Feb. 26, 2024) – The 500 Festival is proud to announce that the OneAmerica 500 Festival Mini-Marathon has been nominated for Best Half Marathon and the Delta Dental 500 Festival 5K has been nominated for Best 5K in the USA TODAY 10Best Readers’ Choice Awards.  

Voting begins today, February 26, and ends on Monday, March 25 at 11:59am EST. You can cast your vote daily for both races. Voting for the Mini-Marathon can be found HERE. Voting for the 5K can be found HERE.  

The OneAmerica 500 Festival Mini-Marathon was awarded Best Half Marathon in the 2023 edition of the USA TODAY 10Best Readers’ Choice Awards. The race has become an iconic tradition, led by Hoosiers and embraced by the global running community. Known as The Greatest Spectacle in Running™, the OneAmerica 500 Festival Mini-Marathon annually attracts participants from all 50 states and 15+ countries around the world. It has become a pinnacle event for family and friends to attend year after year. 

The Mini-Marathon starts and finishes in downtown Indianapolis and includes a lap around the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, home of the Indianapolis 500. As participants reach the famed Yard of Bricks, many will stop to kneel and kiss the brick, an Indianapolis 500 winner’s tradition. The flat and fast course is uniquely enhanced with 15 course aid stations, over 50 entertainment acts, and thousands of community volunteers, all cheering participants on to the finish line. 

This year marks the 25th anniversary of the iconic Delta Dental 500 Festival 5K. This thrilling race is filled with iconic racing elements, paying tribute to the Indianapolis 500 and the city of Indianapolis. The fast and flat 3.1-mile course weaves through the heart of downtown Indianapolis, designed for achieving fitness goals and experiencing a race like no other. Live entertainment and cheer squads line the route, encouraging and pushing thousands of participants to accomplish their goals.  

Hundreds of community volunteers also come together to support and make the Delta Dental 500 Festival 5K an exciting and meaningful experience for all involved. At the free Post Race Party following the race, participants celebrate their accomplishments with spectators, friends, and family including an entertainment stage, food and beverage offerings, and of course, celebratory chocolate milk.  

The OneAmerica 500 Festival Mini-Marathon and Delta Dental 500 Festival 5K are the 500 Festival’s largest fundraisers. Race registrations help support the 500 Festival’s free youth programs and events. The OneAmerica 500 Festival Mini-Marathon and Delta Dental 500 Festival 5K traditionally take place the first weekend in May, welcoming the most thrilling month in Indianapolis as celebrations amp up for the Indianapolis 500. This year’s races take place on May 4, 2024, and registration is currently open at IndyMini.com/Register.
