Children ages 12 and under may enter to win a $500 scholarship, courtesy of STAR Bank 

INDIANAPOLIS (March 8, 2023) – The 500 Festival and STAR Financial Bank today announced the launch of the 2023 Kickoff to May Coloring Contest. Children ages 12 and under are invited to enter the contest. The coloring sheet and entry form can be downloaded at 500Festival.com/Color. Entries will be selected based on creativity and originality.  

“There is nothing quite like seeing all of the Pace Cars lined up on Monument Circle for the Kickoff to May,” said Scott Bove, senior vice president/regional president of STAR Bank. “It is an honor for STAR Bank to sponsor this event, all while creating awareness around the Indianapolis 500 and engaging the creativity of Hoosier children through the state-wide coloring contest. It is a win-win for our community!” 

Two grand-prize winners will receive a scholarship of $500, courtesy of STAR Bank, and a free 1-year membership to the INDYCAR Nation Rookie Program courtesy of INDYCAR. Winners will be announced during the 2023 500 Festival Kickoff to May, presented by STAR Bank on Wednesday, May 3. The winning artists will be invited to appear on stage during the event and proudly showcase their creations.  

The Kickoff to May event is free and open to the public and will take place on Monument Circle in downtown Indianapolis from 11:00am – 1:00pm.  

“May is such an exciting time in this city and we are thrilled to give kids a chance to use their imagination and participate in the Month of May festivities,” said Bob Bryant, president and CEO of the 500 Festival. “It is incredible to see the creativity, talent, and pride of our young Hoosiers and their enthusiasm for the traditions of May.” 

To participate, kids can download and decorate the coloring sheet and complete the entry form found at 500Festival.com/Color. Alternatively, entries can be submitted to STAR Bank’s Monument Circle location or mailed to: Attn: Kickoff to May Coloring Contest, 46 Monument Cir, Indianapolis, IN 46204.
