Carly Rae Jepsen to Headline the 2015 Chase 500 Festival Kids’ Day

INDIANAPOLIS (April 22, 2015) The 500 Festival, a nonprofit organization providing life-enriching events for Indiana and celebrating the legacy of the Indianapolis 500, today announced that multi-platinum, Grammy-nominated artist Carly Rae Jepsen, presented by 99.5 WZPL, will headline the 2015 Chase 500 Festival Kids’ Day on May 9. Jepsen will perform in a free concert on Monument Circle in downtown Indianapolis. 

A global pop sensation, Carly Rae Jepsen recently released her new single, “I Really Like You” and unveiled the song’s music video, which already has more than 30 million views and features Tom Hanks and Justin Bieber. “I Really Like You” is the first single from Jepsen’s sophomore album, E•MO•TION, due out this summer. Carly Rae Jepsen burst onto the U.S. music scene with her blockbuster break-out hit “Call Me Maybe,” which climbed to No. 1 on the iTunes Singles charts in over 47 countries and has sold over 17 million singles worldwide. It earned Jepsen 2012 GRAMMY nominations for Best Pop Solo Performance and Song of the Year.

The month of May in Indianapolis will be packed with nationally recognized entertainment. In addition to Carly Rae Jepsen, the 500 Festival will also be hosting:

  • Nico & Vinz: the multi-platinum global recording artists whose hit “Am I Wrong,” was No. 1 in 50 countries, will be the opening entertainment at the 2015  IPL 500 Festival Parade
  • American Authors: the platinum-selling rock band will be performing at the 2015 KeyBank 500 Festival Snakepit Ball. Their single, “Best Day of My Life,” was named the No.1 most played song in 2014 on Adult Pop Radio.
  • Straight No Chaser: a pop culture phenomenon – with more than 20 million views on YouTube and numerous national TV appearances – the a cappella group will make a repeat guest performance at the KeyBank 500 Festival Snakepit Ball, on the eve of their Indianapolis 500 performance of “Back Home Again in Indiana.”

Chase 500 Festival Kids’ Day

The 500 Festival brings its community celebration of the Indianapolis 500 to Indiana families for the annual Chase 500 Festival Kids’ Day on Monument Circle in downtown Indianapolis. With an estimated attendance of 40,000 annually, Kids’ Day is the state’s largest outdoor free festival for children. Kids’ Day offers fun, interactive, educational displays in a carnival-like atmosphere. From arts and crafts to science, safety and games, this outdoor festival, offers entertainment for all ages.

Chase 500 Festival Rookie Run

Part of Chase 500 Festival Kids’ Day, the 21st annual Chase 500 Festival Rookie Run is a non-competitive fun run for children aged 3 – 10 and is an excellent opportunity for Indiana youth to get active. Managed by the same team that produces the OneAmerica 500 Festival Mini-Marathon, the nation’s largest half-marathon, this event boasts similar fanfare including the start and finish line production.

Run distances are set based upon a child’s age and all participants will receive a goodie bag, a participant bib with the number 1, and a finisher’s medal. All Rookie Run participants who pre-register will receive a commemorative technical t-shirt. On-site registration will be available, however registration and shirts will be sold separately.
