Carissa Galloway to Serve as the First Ever Female Announcer of the OneAmerica 500 Festival Mini-Marathon on May 6

Galloway is the first female announcer in the race’s 47-year history 

The 500 Festival today announces that Carissa Galloway will serve as the announcer at the 2023 OneAmerica 500 Festival Mini-Marathon and the Delta Dental 500 Festival 5K. Galloway will encourage participants as they near the start line in anticipation and serve as additional support and encouragement for participants, fueling them toward the finish line. She will also entertain spectators as they cheer on participants, building excitement and enthusiasm throughout the race. 

 

Galloway is an Orlando-based Registered Dietitian with a diverse background in nutrition, fitness, and television hosting. She has served as a race announcer for 20 years and has announced more than 275 races. Her most notable races include the runDisney events, the Rock 'n Roll running series and IRONMAN triathlons both nationally and internationally including the 2022 IRONMAN World Championships. The OneAmerica 500 Festival Mini-Marathon will be Galloway’s first race in Indianapolis and will kick off her announcing season for the year.

Awarded Best Half Marathon in the 2023 edition of the USA TODAY 10Best Readers’ Choice Awards and one of America’s Most Iconic Races by Runners World, the OneAmerica 500 Festival Mini-Marathon is one of the nation’s largest half marathons, drawing participants from all 50 states and 10+ countries around the world each year. This beloved Month of May tradition starts and finishes in downtown Indianapolis and includes a 2.5-mile lap around the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. The flat, fast course is packed with thousands of volunteers, 15 course aid stations, and dozens of course entertainers. The OneAmerica 500 Festival Mini-Marathon is also the 500 Festival’s largest fundraiser, with race registrations supporting the 500 Festival’s free education, health, and leadership development programs and initiatives, impacting the lives of 100,000 Indiana youth and families each year.
