WHAT: Athletes will hit the pavement Saturday morning for the final event of the official training series of the OneAmerica 500 Festival Mini-Marathon, the 2014 500 Festival Training Series 15K, presented by OrthoIndy. The Training Series is designed to allow participants the opportunity to gauge their progression in preparation for the OneAmerica 500 Festival Mini-Marathon on Saturday, May 3, 2014. Participants will run on part of the actual Mini-Marathon course and practice using water stations. The three Training Series events gradually increase in distance to coincide with a typical training program’s schedule.
Pre-registration for the 15K on Saturday is closed; however, those still wanting to participate can do so by signing up on race day. On-site registration is available for $20 and begins 90 minutes before the event. The 500 Festival Training Series, presented by OrthoIndy, is open to the public. Participants do not need to be registered for the OneAmerica 500 Festival Mini-Marathon to enter.
Race officials may cancel, delay or change the run in case of extreme weather or other conditions that may affect the safety and health of the participants. In the event of cancellation, the 500 Festival communications department will notify local media of such changes. Please tune into WISH-TV or listen to WFMS 95.5, WJJK 104.5 or WWFT i94 for updates on the status of the event. In the event of cancellation, refunds will not be issued. Runner tracking technology allows family and fans to follow their friends, family or fellow runners. By registering for the program and entering an athlete's first and last name on the runner tracking webpage, users of the feature can follow a runner's time as they cross the finish line. Spectators and participants can electronically track multiple runners along the race course by receiving real-time via email, text messages, Facebook status updates and/or tweets.
