WHAT: Athletes will hit the pavement Saturday morning for the first of three events for the official training series of the OneAmerica 500 Festival Mini-Marathon, the 2012 500 Festival Training Series, presented by OrthoIndy. The Training Series is designed to allow participants the opportunity to gauge their progression in preparation for the sold-out OneAmerica 500 Festival Mini-Marathon on Saturday, May 5, 2012. Participants will run on part of the actual Mini-Marathon course and practice using water stations. The three Training Series events gradually increase in distance to coincide with a typical training program’s schedule. In addition to the 5K, additional events include the 10K: March 3 and the 15K: April 7. Register online at www.500festival.com.
The 500 Festival Training Series, presented by OrthoIndy, is open to the public. Participants do not need to be registered for the OneAmerica 500 Festival Mini-Marathon to enter.
Pre-registration for the 5K on Saturday is closed; however, those still wanting to participate can do so by signing up the day-of. On-site registration is available for $16 and begins 90 minutes before each event. Participants may also sign up for all three Training Series events for $48.
Race officials may cancel, delay or change the run in case of extreme weather or other conditions that may affect the safety and health of the participants. In the event of cancellation, the 500 Festival communications department will notify local media of such changes. Please tune into WISH-TV or listen to WFMS 95.5, WJJK 104.5 or WWFT i94 for updates on the status of the event. In the event of cancellation, refunds will not be issued.
