500 Festival Princess Program Selection Continues on Saturday, Feb. 8

WHAT: This weekend the 500 Festival will complete the selection process to choose 33 young women to represent the 2014 500 Festival at this year’s events and programs. The 500 Festival received more than 230 applications from young women representing 77 Hoosier cities and towns and 21 colleges and universities across the state. On Jan. 25, the Festival narrowed the field to 66 finalists who will return this Saturday, Feb. 8 for second-round interviews.  At the conclusion of those interviews, judges will select the final 33 young ladies who will serve as ambassadors for the 2014 500 Festival. Those selected as a 2014 500 Festival Princess will be notified by e-mail on the evening of Feb. 8.

The ladies will be scored on community involvement, communication skills, poise and appearance, and their answers to questions during one, five-minute interview with a panel of judges. Additional program requirements may be found by visiting www.500festival.com.

The 500 Festival Queen will be crowned at the 500 Festival Breakfast at the Brickyard, presented by ETC ProLiance Energy at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway® on May 17, 2014. The queen will receive a $2,500 scholarship. The queen and princesses will serve as ambassadors for the 500 Festival, their hometowns and the 2014 Indianapolis 500®.
