INDIANAPOLIS (November 18, 2014) – The 500 Festival, a nonprofit organization committed to enriching the quality of life for Indiana residents and visitors, today announced a new series of running events , the 500 Festival Miler Series, presented by OrthoIndy. Formerly known as the Training Series, the 500 Festival Miler Series, presented by OrthoIndy, offers three running and walking events at three unique distances, a 3-Miler, 6-Miler, and 10-Miler.

“While the half-marathon continues to be the fastest growing running distance in the United States, events offering unique distances, like the Miler Series, continue to gain popularity,” said Bob Bryant, president and CEO, 500 Festival. “Whether these races fit into someone’s larger training schedule or they are used to kick start your fitness goals for 2015, the 500 Festival Miler Series, presented by OrthoIndy offers a distance to suit your needs.”

The distances and timing of events within the 500 Festival Miler Series, presented by OrthoIndy, coincide with typical training programs for a spring distance race such as the 2015 OneAmerica 500 Festival Mini-Marathon. Each race is designed to provide participants with a low-pressure opportunity to gauge their training progression. The Miler Series is open to the public, providing the community with an opportunity to get moving and accomplish their fitness goals, even if they aren’t training for a specific race.

“Whether walking or running, proper training is critical for races of any distance,” said Jane Keller, CEO of OrthoIndy and IOH. “The Miler Series provides runners and walkers with the opportunity to gauge their training and make changes as necessary. With the right training, the risk of injury can be minimized.”

Participants who register and complete all three races in the 500 Festival Miler Series, presented by OrthoIndy will earn the title of Podium Finisher. All Podium Finishers will receive a gender specific technical t-shirt and the official Podium Finisher medal. Participants can pre-register for all three races for $40 or $45 for onsite registration.
