500 Festival Announces Retirement of President & CEO Bob Bryant and Launches Search for Next Leader

INDIANAPOLIS (September 9, 2025) –The 500 Festival announced today that President and CEO, Bob Bryant, will be retiring from his position effective January 9, 2026. A search committee made up of directors from both the 500 Festival and 500 Festival Foundation boards has been established to lead the process of selecting the organization’s next leader. The committee has enlisted global sports, entertainment, and nonprofit recruitment firm, Prodigy Search to manage the process. The position has been posted HERE.

Bryant joined the 500 Festival in 2013 and has been instrumental in advancing the organization’s mission to enrich lives, foster a positive impact on the community and celebrate the spirit and legacy of the Indianapolis 500. Under his leadership, the 500 Festival has seen significant growth, increased impact, and fostered a culture of inclusion and innovation.

The 500 Festival has expanded its year-round programming, empowered youth through education and leadership, promoted health and fitness initiatives for all, and strengthened its ties to the community. Signature events like the IU Health 500 Festival Mini-Marathon and the 500 Festival Parade continue to draw national attention. The 500 Festival Foundation, which supports the organization’s mission-driven programs and initiatives, completed a record-breaking fundraising campaign in 2024, positioning the organization for long-term impact and sustainability.

Bryant will continue working with the board and staff throughout the search and transition process to ensure a smooth handoff. He will also help guide ongoing collaboration with leadership at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway and other key community stakeholders as the 500 Festival prepares for milestone anniversaries in 2026 — the 50th running of the IU Health 500 Festival Mini-Marathon and the 70th 500 Festival Parade.
