500 Festival and Indianapolis Colts Announce Extensive Community Partnership

May 12, 2023

The 500 Festival announced today that the Indianapolis Colts have committed to an extensive community partnership, through which the Colts will provide community activations across numerous events during the Month of May and beyond.

In support of the 500 Festival Foundation’s Fueling the Community Campaign, the Colts donated a generous $50,000 gift, which the 500 Festival will use to reach more Indiana students through education, fitness, and leadership development programs celebrating the Indianapolis 500. This is just the start of the Colts’ involvement in the Month of May festivities.

At the Salesforce & JPMorgan Chase Kid’s Day & Rookie Run, taking place this Sunday, May 14, the Colts will be one of the four Spoke Street Partners providing Play 60, their full interactive activation that engages kids to use their football skills. They will also bring Colts in Motion, an interactive traveling experience featuring Colts exhibits, history, and memorabilia. A tent and stadium backdrop will be on site for photo opportunities, as well as a meet and greet with members of the Colts Cheerleaders. For those attending the event, this activation will be at the entrance and exit points of W. Market St. on Monument Circle, with the Colts block being between Illinois and Meridian streets.

The Colts are also a Celebrity Promotional Partner within the AES 500 Festival Parade and will be involved in the opening production. The 500 Festival is working with Kelly Tilley, Director of Cheerleading and Entertainment, on the number, which will kick off the Parade festivities on Saturday, May 27. What’s more, the Colts Cheerleaders are collaborating with the Indiana Pacemates and Indiana Pacers “High Octane” Drumline for this production.

“The 500 Festival is interwoven into the very fabric of Indianapolis and Indiana, so the Colts are thrilled to continue and enhance our involvement with the festival and the Month of May,” said Roger VanDerSnick, Colts Chief Sales & Marketing Officer and a 500 Festival board member. “We look forward to bringing two great Hoosier teams together to celebrate our community and amplify the greatest spectacle in racing.”

“We are so grateful to the Indianapolis Colts and the Irsay family for their support of the 500 Festival and 500 Festival Foundation,” said Bob Bryant, president, and CEO of the 500 Festival. “The Colts’ support allows us to continue to provide life-enriching and memorable opportunities for the community and students across Indiana.”
