The 500 Festival Princess Program, presented by The National Bank of Indianapolis, celebrates Indiana’s most civic-minded, academically driven young women. Each year, 33 college-aged women are selected as 500 Festival Princesses and serve as ambassadors of the 500 Festival, their hometowns, and their colleges/universities.
Serving as a 500 Festival Princess provides young women with once-in-a-life-time experiences and countless opportunities for leadership and professional development. Since 1959, more than 2,000 Indiana college women have had the honor of serving as a 500 Festival Princess. Each year, the women participate in numerous statewide outreach programs that include visits to hospitals, schools, and various youth programs.
For the 2021 class of 500 Festival Princesses, Khamis Fine Jewelers has created a custom pendant that will be presented to the women on Saturday, April 10th. The pendant incorporates a ‘heart’ as in the heart of a princess, an ‘emerald’ for May’s birthstone, and a ‘checkered flag’ to represent the Indianapolis 500.
“Khamis Fine Jewelers is proud to create and unveil the 2021 500 Festival Princess Program Pendant,” said Mary Khamis-Rowe, owner at Khamis Fine Jewelers. “We are thrilled to partner with the 500 Festival and celebrate Indiana’s most civic-minded, academically driven young women with this custom piece of jewelry. It is so exciting to see the 500 Festival Princesses make such a profound impact on the surrounding communities.”
Khamis Fine Jewelers has been in business in Indianapolis for over 25 years, and 2021 marks the 62nd anniversary of the 500 Festival Princess Program, presented by The National Bank of Indianapolis.
The 500 Festival Princess Program has a long history of celebrating Indiana’s most civic-minded, poised, academically driven college-aged women, and the program is grateful for the support of Khamis Fine Jewelers and the Princesses’ impact on the community.
Support of the 500 Festival Princess Program is provided by: The National Bank of Indianapolis, Marlyne Sexton, BKD, Khamis Fine Jewelers, Indianapolis Motor Speedway, Vera Bradley, and the 500 Festival Foundation.
