The 500 Festival Kickoff to May, presented by STAR Bank, kicks us off to the greatest month in Indiana and starts the countdown to the Indy 500. Held on Monument Circle in downtown Indianapolis, the event is packed full of festivities! Join us as we welcome the spirit of May with members of the community, the 500 Festival Board of Directors, the 500 Festival Princesses, race fans, and maybe even a few surprise guests! At this event, you can also pick up prizes from exhibitors, take photos with the 2023 500 Festival Cars, and so much more.
Kick off May with us on Wednesday, May 3! This event is free and open to the public.
Kickoff To May Coloring Contest
Hoosiers ages 12 and under are invited to enter their decorated coloring sheets into the 500 Festival Kickoff to May Coloring Contest, presented by STAR Bank, and express what the Month of May means to them! Print the coloring sheet so they can show off what they love most about the Month of May, and let their imagination lead the way.
Winning coloring sheets will be selected on creativity and originality. Two grand-prize winners will receive a $500 scholarship, courtesy of STAR Bank, and a free 1-year membership to the INDYCAR Nation Rookie Program, courtesy of INDYCAR.
The deadline to enter the contest is April 8, 2023. Grand-prize winners will be announced at the 2023 500 Festival Kickoff to May, presented by STAR Bank on Wednesday, May 3

The 2023 coloring sheet features iconic Month of May imagery, inviting kids to draw their favorite thing about the Month of May in Indiana! Participants can break out the markers, colored pencils, and crayons and let their imaginations run wild. Whether your young Hoosier loves roaring racecars, waving checkered flags, or magical parade confetti, there are so many ways to May!
