A New Way to Parade!

June 1, 2020

Since we couldn't be together this Memorial Day Weekend, we wanted to provide everyone a way to get creative and still celebrate the Greatest Spectacle in Racing. Join us in applauding these amazing submissions and we can't wait to see you in August for the IPL 500 Festival Parade!

Team Name: Lev Motorsports
Float Name: Little Dixon
“We are huge fans of Scott Dixon and are excited to celebrate the 30th Anniversary of Chip Ganassi Racing!  Our three-year-old grandson, Lev Cruz Lathrop, is the enthusiastic driver.  Our family came together during our quarantine to construct the race car, flag, bottle of milk, driver's vest and hat, along with the brick start/finish line.  Thanks to the pandemic, it's the first time in twenty years that our family has been living together under one roof, making this a very unique and special project.”

Team Name: Team Hickory Palms
Float Name: The Ultimate Floating Float
“Having attended the Indy 500 parade and the race for over 35 years, we wanted to pay tribute to the policemen at the front of the parade, the princesses in the middle of the parade and the drivers at the end of the parade. Except for Christmas, Memorial Day weekend is THE Lee family gathering of the year and we are so sad that we cannot have our gang at the parade or the race in May 2020. The quarantine separated us but your virtual parade brought us together!! Your virtual parade idea gave us something fun to do and memories that will last forever!"

Team Name: Firefly
Float Name: Firefly Finds A New Way to Parade

Team Name: Princess Nicole
Float Name: The Royal Music Mobile
“I decorated our wagon with a black and white sheet and attached pictures of things that meaningful to me when it comes to the 500 Festival and the month of May. I attached a logo for the princess program, the race car driver balloon that is in the parade each year (at least for as long as I can remember), monument circle, the yard of bricks, and the logo for my high school marching band, who I marched with in the IPL 500 Festival Parade four times while in high school.”

Team Name: Queen Scholar Kathleen
Float Name: Mini Princess Program Float
“I made my float out of card stock, pipe cleaners, hot glue, and little decorations. It is a miniature design of what I would want the Princess Program float to look like.”

Team Name: Princess Sydney
Float Name: 2014 Festival Car

Team Name: Princess Emily
Float Name: Skatin’ Princess
“I decided to take a creative approach and make myself into a float while incorporating one of my new hobbies - roller skating! I wanted to have a vintage vibe with my parade look to match my skates, so I went with a retro outfit and hairstyle. It’s not a traditional float, but it was fun to put 2 of my favorite things together - the Princess program and roller skating!”

Team Name: Princess Regan
Float Name: The IPL 500 Festival Parade is Udder-ly Unbelievable
“Miss Martini the heifer decided to take part in this year’s Virtual IPL 500 Festival Parade! She paired with 500 Festival Princess Regan to complete her look in order to fully support the 500 Festival and the race! Let's get MOO-ving!”
