500 Festival KidsFit Program Reaches Record Participation in 2026
INDIANAPOLIS (March 11, 2026) – The 500 Festival is celebrating a record-breaking year for its KidsFit Program, with 105 schools and 19,190 students participating in 2026 — the highest enrollment in the program’s history. The milestone reflects the continued growth and impact of the program as it helps students across Indiana build healthy habits through physical activity and education.
The KidsFit Program is a school-based fitness and wellness program designed to encourage elementary and middle school students to stay active while learning about goal setting, nutrition, and overall wellness. Through engaging activities and curriculum resources, KidsFit helps students develop lifelong healthy habits in a fun and accessible way.
“This record participation shows how committed schools and teachers are to helping students build healthy lifestyles,” said Jamie Stremming, Program and Event Senior Manager at the 500 Festival. “KidsFit gives students the tools and motivation to stay active while making fitness fun and achievable. Seeing nearly 20,000 students involved this year is incredibly exciting and reinforces the importance of bringing wellness programs directly into schools.”
The program continues to expand each year as more schools recognize the value of integrating physical activity into the classroom experience. Teachers receive structured resources and support to make it easy to implement the program and engage students of all fitness and ability levels.
Registration for the 2026 KidsFit program remains open through March 28, and schools interested in participating should act quickly. The 500 Festival encourages educators and administrators to take advantage of this opportunity to bring a proven fitness and wellness curriculum to their classrooms.
