INDIANAPOLIS (May 3, 2025) – Thousands of participants from 20 different countries, 6 continents, and 50 states crossed the finish line today at the 2025 IU Health 500 Festival Mini-Marathon and Delta Dental 500 Festival 5K. 

Brandon Olden from Richmond, Kentucky won the IU Health 500 Festival Mini-Marathon men’s race with a time of 1 hour, 4 minutes, and 40 seconds. Mercy Chelangat of Flagstaff, Arizona won the women’s race with a time of 1 hour, 10 minutes, and 32 seconds, setting the new IU Health 500 Festival Mini-Marathon course record for the women’s division.

Matt Moler from Midwest City, Oklahoma won the Delta Dental 500 Festival 5K men’s race with a time of 15 minutes and 25 seconds. Lilly Higgins from Arcadia, Indiana won the Delta Dental 500 Festival 5K women’s race with a time of 18 minutes and 27 seconds.

In the Athletes with Disabilities division, Holly Koester from Walton Hills, Ohio took home first place with a time of 1 hour, 28 minutes and 16 seconds. Kevin Weingartner from Indianapolis, Indiana took home second place with a time of 1 hour and 46 minutes.

Olin Hacker from Flagstaff, Arizona won the USATF Men’s 5KM Championship with a time of 13 minutes and 32 seconds. Josette Andrews from Boulder, Colorado won the USATF Women’s 5KM Championship with a time of 15 minutes and 6 seconds.

2025 marked the 49th running of the IU Health 500 Festival Mini-Marathon and 26th running of the Delta Dental 500 Festival 5K. The Circle City Sound Barbershop Chorus performed “Back Home Again in Indiana” before the start of the Delta Dental 500 Festival 5K. Piper Watkins, a 2025 500 Festival Princess, performed the national anthem before the start of the IU Health 500 Festival Mini-Marathon. For full race results, visit indymini.com/results.

The Mini-Marathon starts and finishes in downtown Indianapolis and includes a lap around the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, home of the Indianapolis 500. As participants reach the famed Yard of Bricks, many will stop to kneel and kiss the bricks, an Indianapolis 500 winner’s tradition. The flat and fast course is uniquely enhanced with 15-course aid stations, over 40 entertainment acts, and thousands of community volunteers, all cheering participants to the finish line. 

The 2025 Mini-Marathon is supported by Indiana University Health, Delta Dental, Meijer and OneAmerica Financial. The Mini-Marathon was broadcast to the Indianapolis market on WTHR, Channel 13.
