The OneAmerica 500 Festival Mini-Marathon offers free runner tracking to allow family and fans to follow their friends, family or fellow runners while they are participating in the sold-out 13.1 mile event.

By registering for the program and entering an athlete's bib number or first or last name on the runner tracking website, users of the feature can follow a runner's progress as they cross 5K split, the Yard of Bricks™, Mile 11 and the Finish Line. Spectators can electronically track multiple runners along the race course by receiving real-time via email, text messages, Facebook status updates and/or tweets. This technology will allow followers the knowledge of where the runner is throughout the race and be in the position to greet them along the course or see them cross the finish line.

The tracking chip is located within the bib and as a runner passes the large rubber mats at each split, a radio transmitter inside the chip sends a unique ID number to an antenna, which routes the information to a central database. Spectators will receive updates within seconds of this happening.
