The 2008 500 Festival Breakfast at the Brickyard, presented by ProLiance Energy, featured racing legend Bobby Rahal. Close to 80 mayors from around the state of Indiana were there to celebrate the annual event held at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
Bobby Rahal is a three-time CART Series champion, including his 1986 Indianapolis 500 win. He concluded his distinguished 17-year Champ Car World Series driving career in 1998, with 24 career victories and 18 pole positions.

Rahal is the co-owner of Rahal Letterman Racing, in partnership with David Letterman. His team won the Indianapolis 500 in 2004 with a car driven by Buddy Rice. That same year, Rahal was inducted into the International Motorsports Hall of Fame.
Rahal spoke on the topic of ethanol fuel during a Q&A session hosted by veteran motorsports commentator Bob Jenkins. Guests enjoyed a hearty Hoosier breakfast, the opportunity to see the crowning of the 2008 500 Festival Queen, take a lap around the famed oval in their own vehicle, tour the garages, and experience the third day of qualifying for the 92nd running of the Indianapolis 500.
Jenkins served as the event’s master of ceremonies. Indianapolis Mayor Greg Ballard saluted Hoosier mayors from across the state in attendance in celebration of the month of May in Indiana. The 500 Festival Breakfast at the Brickyard, presented by ProLiance Energy, is sponsored by Ice Miller, AAA Hoosier Motor Club, Charter One Bank, Indianapolis Motor Speedway, WIBC, and WTHR Channel 13.
